Master Chef Dee Jay Santos at SM Hypermarket Shaw Boulevard

In in line with the celebration of SM Hypermarket's 10th anniversary, SM Hypermaket Shaw Boulevard recently hosted a grand cooking demo with guest Master Chef Dee Jay Santos. With an audience mostly composed of Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism students, hosted by a pretty lady dressed in a Spanish-inspired outfit, Master Chef Dee Jay presented three dishes namely, Country - Style Pasta, Chicken Salad, and Asparagus Omelette. He used three master brands, San Remo, Tabasco, and La Espanola in cooking the said recipes.

Country - Style Pasta


Like I mentioned, there were three dishes in the menu, but let me share one of them which I'll most likely cook in my own kitchen for my husband, the Country - Style Pasta, the one in the photo above.

Country - Style Pasta

Ingredients:
400g San Remo Spaghetti
150g anchovy olives
1 small zucchini
2 medium peeled ripe tomatoes
2 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon parsley
4 tablespoons La Espanola Extra Virgin Olive Oil
salt and Tabasco Pepper Sauce to taste

Cooking Method:
Finely chop onion, tomatoes, and garlic. Wash zucchini and cut into small dices. Chop anchovy olives.

Heat La Espanola Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a frying pan and fry onion and garlic until they start browning. Add tomatoes and zucchini. Fry the ingredients lightly for 15 minutes more. Add olives and parsley, stir and keep cooking for another 5 minutes. Set aside.

Cook spaghetti in boiling salty water. Drain the pasta and serve with the sauce.

Makes 4 servings.

If you are a lover of Italian or pasta dishes, I recommend you try this one. By the way, you may substitute bell pepper with zucchini, but of course, you may use whatever you think will taste good. Remember, don't be afraid to experiment in your own kitchen.
