Love is something..

I was watching TV last night when my hubby called me to pay attention to this Turkish short film. It has no dialog. Just actions and a very good music. But hey, there's something more. The moral of the story!
How old is old?
|
Thursday, August 27, 2009
I think, being old is just a state of mind. I mean, someone who is young may think he is old enough to do the things that mature people do and vice versa.
Some people are afraid of growing old. I remember seeing an elder woman at the MRT wearing all pink from head to toe with a matching Hello Kitty bag in her arm. Why would she wear something like that and go in public very much like a teen in appearance? What is the message she is trying to send? Yeah, you guessed it. She wants to stay youthful and fresh!
On the other hand, there are some people who are rushing to reach a certain age of life. Let's say for example a 16-year old who struggles with freedom, wishing she's 22, done college and all, so she can just leave home.
I turned 29 last June, but honestly, I don't always act my age. I am maybe old enough to raise a baby. Old enough to run a household. Old enough to do parenting stuff. However, I'm not too old to eat ice cream, enjoy net surfing, and try some extreme games.
To satisfy you more with my answer, here is the result of an online quiz that I took from blogthings.
Ha. The test says that I'm acting like 27. Not far from my real age huh :)

Thanks to Yami and Shie for this tag. This is my first time to join a contest here in the blogosphere.
Now I'm tagging Golden, Chie Wilks, Rors, Demcy, and Sassy Chick to join Cathara's Contest.

You Act Like You Are 27 Years Old |
![]() You are a twenty-something at heart. You feel like an adult, and you're optimistic about life. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences. You're still figuring out your place in the world and how you want your life to shape up. The world is full of possibilities, and you can't wait to explore many of them. |

Visiting Turkey
|
Tuesday, August 25, 2009

I wrote this itinerary like two weeks ago while my hubby was in Seoul for a business trip. We have planned to celebrate our baby's 1st birthday in Istanbul together with my in-laws.
Things to do and places to visit in Turkey:
- Visit the Sultanahmet Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque
- Try the Turkish ice cream called "dondurma"
- Go to the Asian side of Istanbul
- Eat lots of kebabs and doner
- Visit my little sis-in-law at school
- Visit the Bhosphorous Bridge
- Meet Elizabeth & her family
- Visit Ruvelyn & her baby
- Learn cooking some Turkish foods
- See hubby's relatives
- Try Turkish delight and other pastries
- Experience the bazaar & marketplace
- Visit a plantation of tulips
- Ride an air balloon
- Celebrate Askim's birthday
Unfortunately, after a revisit to the Turkish Embassy in Makati, we learned that my baby and I can't get any visa for Turkey that fast. After the registration of marriage and birth, we have to wait a minimum of 1 month before we could fly. Hayyy.. the birthday celebration in Turkey will be moved for sure. I hate it, but there's nothing else we could do. We'll probably make it in October, though.
For the meantime, I have to plan our baby's birthday celebration here in Manila the soonest. The date is September 25. Today is Askim's 11th month. Waaah! I have only one month to prepare, so later.. İstanbul'a Gidiyorum!

Photohunt 11: Ripples
|
Saturday, August 22, 2009

Happy photohunting everyone! I was absent last weeks so, I'm glad to be present and posting early today. Yay, I missed photohunting 'cause of some technical problem with our ISP.
For this week's theme, I have here a photo of me and my hubby taken the day after our wedding last June. Notice the tiny waves of water forming around us. Yeah, that's what we call ripples.
I ♥ Dean Fujioka
|
Thursday, August 20, 2009

I think I have a crush on Dean Fujioka. There is something behind his doll-like eyes that makes me feel like high school again. I know I'm not a teenager anymore, but I get a little excited everytime I watch Miss No Good, a Taiwanese TV series now airing from Mon To Fri at 5:15 PM through ABS-CBN. BTW, it was Dean's 29th birthday yesterday. Yay, we are on the same age. Anyway, I just want to encourage you guys to watch Miss No Good. Well, if you are feeling girly-girly sometimes. Hehe.

The Perfect Grilled Chicken
|
Friday, August 7, 2009
.jpg)
When I say grilled chicken, I mean skinless oven-grilled whole leg chicken. Marinated for hours then baked into perfection in the oven. The result is delicious chicken with juicy flesh and crunchy inner skin.
You will need:
- 6 whole leg chicken, skin removed & fat trimmed
- 3 tbsps calamansi juice or lemon extracts
- 2 tbsps soy sauce
- salt and black pepper to taste
Cooking Procedure:
Rub the chicken legs with salt and black pepper. Put them in a plastic container. Pour in the soy sauce and calamansi juice. Make sure that all pieces are coated. Place the container in the fridge. Let marinate for 2 hours.
Remove the chicken from the marinade. Line in a medium baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes or until the skins are brown. Remove from heat then serve with your favorite sauce or gravy. Mine up there is served with Spanish rice and coleslaw.

Ingredients

- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/8 kl shrimps, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- salt to taste
- cooking oil
Cooking Direction:
- Sauté the onion and shrimps in a medium fire.
- Add the ampalaya then cover it for 3 minutes.
- When the vegetable is almost done, add the beaten eggs.
- Season with salt according to taste and serve.
My Version of Spanish Rice
|
Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Cooking steamed rice again by adding some spices and other flavors makes it tastier and interesting. Here is my version of "sinangag Espanyol" or Spanish fried rice. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of steamed rice
- 1/4 cup green peas
- 1/4 cup carrot and corn
- 1 medium-sized red bell pepper, cut into tiny squares
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tbsps vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp of achuete seeds
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- salt to taste
Cooking Procedure:
Heat the oil in a pan. Add in the achuete seeds to the oil. Let them extract color and flavor. When the oil is finally really red, start spooning off the achuete pieces. Now sauté the garlic, green peas, bell pepper, then carrot and corn.
When the grains are cooked, add in the ketchup then season with salt. Stir in the rice. Mix well to distribute the all the flavors and colors. Let cook for 5 minutes by mixing from time to time. Serve hot with grilled chicken and vegetable salad.
* This recipe is good for 6 people.
Seasonal Fruit: Sweet Sop
|
Sunday, August 2, 2009

sweet⋅sop [sweet-sop] noun
- a sweet, pulpy fruit having a thin, tuberculate rind, borne by a tropical American tree or shrub, Annona squamosa, of the annona family.
- the tree or shrub.
- also called sugar apple.
This fruit is one of my favorite fruits in the tropical world. I love its sweet starchy and pulpy flesh a lot. Locally, we call this fruit "atis".
I took this photo of a ripe sweet sop last vacay. After taking the photo, I actually shared this very fruit with my daughter. And guess what? She liked the taste so much that she kept on hugging me for more.
Like 3 days ago, my brother texted me about their fresh picks of fruits. So, I missed the sweet sop right away. Hubby has been telling me to get some from a fruit stand nearby, but I don't know. It's just that the sweet sops you can find among the markets here in the metro don't taste the same with the ones we have in the province. I mean, nothing beats those freshly picked ripened produce from the trees. I swear.
