Talking about Traffic and Accidents

| Friday, August 1, 2008
Why do accidents are everywhere this days? I was on my way home when I spotted one this afternoon in EDSA, right in front of G.A. Tower 1 and 2, adjacent the BONI MRT station. Some police officers and onlookers are checking the place and I was able to get a snapped shot. A delivery motorbike and a passenger bus were involved in the accident.

I don't know, but I guess these people don't think of safety on the road. The oil price hikes every now and then yet still the streets and major highways are congested of all sorts of transportation. To add to that, these drivers race like daredevils.

Like two nights ago, I watched a very bad accident on TV. A guy just got smashed down by a large trailer. His body was divided into pieces and his blood flooded the streets. The driver of the large delivery truck was accused of overloading. It was mentioned as well that he was with his pregnant wife that night. They were together in the trailer! The accident caused a heavy traffic that even the MMDA head/ chairman had to visit and manage the place.

Why can't we just be extra careful in driving? Over speeding often results to an accident, loss of lives, and damage of property. Traffic rules are violated everywhere. Careless drivers unload and load passengers wherever they want. They don't have discipline at all.

This issue is really one of the reasons why I don't want my babe to buy a car. He is always talking about buying his dream car here in Manila, but I often say no. I can't imagine myself trying to stop him from arguing or fighting with somebody on the road. He can be a little short-tempered with other people sometimes. You'll never know when a road rage is coming, so I am trying to convince him to get a house or a condo unit instead.
