One of my college friends just announced that her civil wedding is coming this weekend, so I have to prepare a wedding gift as soon as possible. I couldn't believe it because the last time we talked, she mentioned that they are having a church wedding late this year. For some reason, they have to go for the civil wedding first. I texted the rest of the gang, informed them about it, and told them about the nature of the ceremony and everything.
Now we come to the buying of the gift. A guy college friend texted back, revealing that he doesn't have any idea of what to buy for the couple, so this is going to be something that he should be reading before hitting the malls or rushing to the store.
CASH Why not? This is a practical way of giving to a newlywed. Don't hesitate. A financial support is needed by them since it's going to be a start of their new life. They can save up or spend the amount of money they will receive from guests for the future. Yes, don't think that you will be the only one giving out cash. It's an old tradition, remember?
A KITCHEN ITEM There is no need to explain why we can't avoid putting this one on the list. The newly weds will surely consider cooking for themselves, right? You should know the bride, too. She must be a good cook or she should be loving the kitchen after the ceremony. The groom is expecting a good wife and a good wife cooks.
This could be the other way around, though. Yeah, for exceptional cases.
A HOME DECOR Spot an enchanting painting, clock, or vase. It may accent the first love nest of the couple. Consider buying something memorable, expensive-looking, and lasting.
ANYTHING PERSONALIZED Check the metro and you will find stores offering personalized towels, slippers, robes, pillow cases, etc. Choose the color that suits the couple. Buy the items in pairs. Have their pictures printed or names sewn on them. Anything personalized could be cheap, but a cute wedding gift item.
A WEDDING TREAT A wedding treat could be as expensive as a trip for 2 to Paris or could be as cheap as a free visit to a local spa for two. Think of something that the newly weds would love doing together. Are they some kind of sporty? Get a one year membership from a certain fitness center for two. I am sure they will enjoy that together and they will end up thanking you the whole year!
